What Public Works does
Public Works keeps Springfield moving and dry — building and maintaining streets, sidewalks, bridges, traffic signals and the stormwater system, and managing the capital projects that shape the city for the next generation.
Responsibilities
- Street maintenance, resurfacing and snow & ice response
- Traffic signals, signs and pavement markings
- Stormwater management and flood mitigation
- Capital improvement engineering and inspection
